You can also obtain 24 hour general medical advice by accessing the NHS 111 Website.
NHS Nottingham City commissions out of hours service in Nottingham City from Nottingham Emergency Medical service (NEMS). If you or your family need urgent medical care when the surgery is closed, please phone the normal daytime surgery number 0115 979 1313 at all times and you will be redirected to NEMS. Your needs will be assessed and you will either be given advice or arrangements made for you to be seen by a healthcare professional.
You can also call NHS Direct, which provides a 24 hour advice and health information service on telephone number 0845 4647.
Alternatively you can now call 111 for advice or treatment for non 999 emegencies
NHS 111 is a new service being introduced to make it easier for you to access local NHS healthcare services. If you live in Luton, County Durham and Darlington, Lincolnshire, Nottingham City, the Isle of Wight, parts of Derbyshire (the Bakewell, Bolsover, Chesterfield and Matlock areas) and Lancashire (excluding West Lancashire) you can now call 111 when you need medical help fast, but it is not a 999 emergency.
NHS 111 is a fast and easy way to get the right help – wherever you are, and whatever the time.
You can call NHS 111 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and all calls from landlines and mobiles are free.
You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it's not a life-threatening situation.
You should call 111 if:
you need medical help fast, but it's not a 999 emergency
you think you need to go to A&E or another NHS urgent care service
you don't know who to call, or you don't have a GP to call, or
you require health information or reassurance about what to do next
For less urgent health needs you should still contact your GP or local pharmacist in the usual way.

You can also visit a nurse-led drop-in service offering health advice, information and treatment of minor ailments by experienced NHS nurses and health information advisors. It is open 365 days a year from 7:00am to 9:00pm.
For deaf people and those hard of hearing a telephone service is available on 0845 606 4647. If English is not your preferred language, you can choose to use a confidential translation service.
Your local pharmacy can also offer you advice and treatment if required for a range of minor ailments. Under the Pharmacy First scheme if you are exempt from prescription charges, you will able to get the same medicines the GP would have prescribed free of charge for head lice, temperature/fever, sore throat, earache, teething pain and pain relief for toothache. To access the service go to your local Pharmacy First pharmacist (look out for posters, leaflets and window stickers for your nearest one).
As part of our ongoing training needs to keep up to date with changes in medicine and within the NHS, we close our surgery on a Tuesday afternoon, six times per year. All emergencies will be dealt with by our "Out of Hours" Service, as above. All relevant dates will be displayed on the 'Opening Hours' page, posters displayed in prominent positions in the Practice and on the health information screen in the main waiting area.
